NEWS FLASH FROM THE REGIONAL!
At 4:50 p.m. today, Thursday, August 21!

JOYCE-ANN BRECLAW and SHERRIE HOLLIDAY win the 0-199 Open Pairs this afternoon, with a 65% game.  AND, they got a trophy for their victory.    All of their hard work learning and improving their game and their partnership together, just paid off big time.   You can't possibly know just how thrilled we are for them.
CONGRATULATIONS, JOYCE and SHERRIE!

Joyce Breclaw loves to shop.  She told me so.  She said that she would love to go to Costco to buy snacks for the Club.  She did that today.  She has also brought in case upon case of Coke products for the coke machine, as she finds them on sale.  Allan DeSerpa has also gone shopping at Costco (twice now).  We are really pressed for time alot of the time so we consider these gifts.  Thank you so much, Joyce and Allan.  In fact, thank you EVERYONE for making the Club a wonderful place to be.

JASON SCHROEDER AND THE 0-49 GAME!!  Jason who had been assisting Nancy on Monday nights with her lessons has started a 0-49 Supervised Play game, and this game qualifies for masterpoints to be awarded to the winners.  The price of the lesson and the game is $7.00.  The lesson will be from 6:00 to 6:30 and the game will start at 6:30, right after the lesson.  A minimum number of boards will be played so the game should be over no later than 8:30, on an introductory basis.

ATTENTION 199ers:  Beginning on October 11, our new director, JASON SCHROEDER will direct a 0-199 game on Saturday mornings, at 9:00.  Play and compete among your peers.  Saturdays are really "hoppin" at the Ace of Clubs.  Play in both of the Saturday games will qualify for a discounted price.

A little dab will do it!  It has been suggested that some of our members are allergic to some of the potent perfume smells.  The only problem arises when their eyes start watering and their sinuses clog up.  I think it is a good idea for us to keep that in mind as we apply all of our natural store bought smells.  Just a titch applied, if necessary, and if soap is not enough. What do you think?

Alice Pierce asked me if I could please tell all of you, THANK YOU, for all of your support of her and the games while she was in charge of the Ace of Clubs.  She said everyone was just wonderful, friendly and helpful.  Some of you were there almost everyday.  Sam and I would like to join with her in our appreciation.  We just can't do this without you.  We care, ALOT, about your happiness and your pleasure.

OUR OWN MARY LOU WESTLEY and LINDA FRACARO COME IN 5TH OVERALL IN THE 0-99 OPEN PAIRS IN THE VEGAS NATIONALS AND GET THEIR FIRST RED POINTS EVER.  CONGRATULATIONS, YOU MAKE US VERY PROUD!!  YOU ARE UP AND COMERS AND WE WILL HELP YOU GET THERE.

Click on Las Vegas Nationals link on this webpage to see what is going on.  There is a link to the daily bulletins and a daily diary I am doing, just for you!

Welcome back, Gloria!!
Bob and Gloria have a mahjong board and some tiles and want to know who is interested in playing.  Let us know, either by email or message on our phone.  I don't know how to play mahjong, although my mother actually taught it, but I am certainly interested in learning.

Betty Politte, Bob Borengasser's sister, returned to Missouri today (Sat.).  She accumulated quite a few points as she and Bob played successfully in all but one of the games this week.  It is always such a pleasure for her to be here and we always look forward to her return.  She is one of those people that you just absolutely like!

Adele played with our friend from Nebraska today (Sat.),  Nancy Witwer.  She is here prior to traveling to Las Vegas for the national tournament.  She is a fun person and a top notch player. She was at our wedding in 1996.  She will be playing in the SWISS tomorrow as well.

What a FUN PACKED WEEKEND!  Thank you everyone for making our July 4 weekend so special.  CONGRATULATIONS TO Jamey Reichow for getting his very first masterpoints at the Ace of Clubs in the Sunday Swiss on July 6 playing with his mom, Debbie Reichow!  He's got talent!

FRIDAY, JULY 4, INDEPENDENCE DAY!
This was such a fun day at the Ace of Clubs.  Friends, lots of delicious food provided from all of us and a delightful game of bridge.  We all made this day extra special.  Thank you.  A wonderful atmosphere today indeed! Recipes are on the "Life Beyond Bridge" page.

Lori Ortiz and Priscilla Kelly win the Open Pairs in Prescott, Friday afternoon, June 26.   A C pair won A, B and C.  Congratulations!

Next, a tribute to our great Board!!

Thank you so much, Carol Gerlach and Richard Katz.  They were the tournament chairpersons, and the tournament was so well run.  The Unit 351 Board knows just what to do to provide its members with the best.  We had lunches, lectures, timely events.  If you have ever considered what it takes to plan, set up, and take down, get the items and stuff the yellow bags for thousands of us (which was done at Carol's house), and run one of these tournaments, you will really appreciate the hard work the Board does for us and they give an amazing amount of their time.  Dale was arranging getting the extra tables and chairs loaded up on his truck and delivered to the tournament site two days prior.  Joyce was getting ready for the Daily Bulletins.  There are countless other tasks prior to a tournament that are just too numerous to mention and many I have not even thought of.  I do know that it all starts out as a date, a time, a place, and that's all.  The tournament personality is work that the Board is devoted to creating.  Thank you!  You have a great personality. What would we do without you.  Their names are listed on the Results and Links page toward the end of the page.

The Hospitality Suite was a huge success and offered free soft drinks, coffee and wine, along with deserts, delicious dips, even meals.  It was the best Hospitality Suite I have ever seen at a tournament and was in a lovely location in a large room with tables and chairs set up inside and just outside the sliding glass doors. It is this kind of hospitality and fun that spreads throughout ACBL-land and increases attendance.  It is one of the ways "Gatlinberg" became so famous.  Theresa Olson was responsible for organizing it, and our famous Unit 351 chef, Charlotte Katz, was there for the Unit as always.  It is also my understanding that the delicious "dip" that Carol Gerlach made took her 5.5 hours to prepare.  Yum, it was good.  Thank you.

When the unexpected occurred in the "Pavillion," on Sunday, with the air-conditioner freezing up, Richard Katz was right there with the best solution he could come up with.  He had huge buckets of ice, and wash cloths delivered fro

NEWS FLASH!!  NEWS FLASH!!

It has arrived, straight from Australia, successfully went through customs in Los Angeles and arrived at the Ace of Clubs during the 0-750 game on Friday, Feb. 22.  It is terrific!  The ACE OF CLUBS is proud and happy to announce PLAY BRIDGE DEALER 4!  It is the newest, the most up-to-date, the most compact dealing machine ever made!  It reads the face of the cards, so does not have those annoying bar codes.  Anything this useful gets a name and so we have justly named him “Dealing Willie.”  What it means to you is you will never have to shuffle or deal a board again and that you will always have hand records at the Ace of Clubs.  We can easily have barometer games, and we can make the boards and use them for teaching tools.   We can receive files from the ACBL on special games and produce the boards through our state of the art technology.  THE ACE OF CLUBS IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR ALL THE WAYS TO MAKE YOUR BRIDGE PLAYING EXPERIENCE THE BEST IT CAN POSSIBLY BE.
